Two make All District Honors Band

Congratulations to 8th graders Ben Shellabarger, trumpet, and Ben Carlson, tenor saxophone, on making the 2014 All District Honors Band.  Auditions were held on Saturday January 11 at Cary High School for public, private, and home-schooled middle school students from central NC.  The audition consisted of learning a challenging solo piece, playing 7 major scales and the chromatic scale, and sight-reading a piece of music the students had never seen.  The Central District (one of six NC Districts) spans 14 counties from Wake to Guilford and represents hundreds of public and private middle schools and thousands of middle school band students.

Ben Carlson's high ranking has earned him the opportunity to audition for the All-State Band.

Congratulations to all who auditioned - it takes a lot of hard work, determination, and just plain guts to to make and follow through with a commitment such as this:

  • Emma Albrecht - 8th grade, alto sax
  • Emily Broad - 8th grade, trumpet
  • Ben Carlson - 8th grade, tenor sax
  • Anish Dasarathy - 7th grade, tenor sax
  • Michael F - 7th grade, alto sax
  • Megan Heinz - 8th grade, bari sax
  • Ben Shellabarger - 8th grade, trumpet
  • Tes Shellabarger - 7th grade, flute
  • Susanna Skaggs - 7th grade, clarinet
