AMS Band Booster Meeting Minutes April 2016

AMS Band Boosters General Meeting, April 11, 2016
Attendance: Helen Bishop, Sarah Giuliano, Julie Seith, Jennifer Arborgast, Christy Shellabarger, Christy Shine, Kirsten Bailey, Susie Fee, Cathy Wurst

Mrs. Bishop's Report:
MPA was a great success! Our 7th graders received a "Superior" plaque soon to be engraved.
The 7th and 8th grade brass was able to attend a clinic at Ligon Middle School.
Also, the field trip to SkyZone was fun for all. The kids were very well behaved and Mrs. Bishop showed off an awesome flip!

Treasurer's Report:
March cookie dough fundraising brought in $2170. Expenses went to field trip payments and Skyzone. In April, the remainder of the 8th grade field trip was paid, and there is now a need to order T-shirts.

New Business:
There was a need to clean the band room this week in preparation for tour guests.
Mrs. Bishop would like to display the flung flutes and hurled baritone in the band room. We discussed ideas for showcasing the instruments (including broken parts) and photos.

There will be an Open House on April 26. The Jazz Band will be performing in the band room from 6:30-7:30, and we will be selling T-shirts.

We discussed appropriate sizes to order, and decided on mostly medium and small sizes, with a need for order forms for any special orders.
This year's band student T-shirt was selected.

The 8th grade field trip is scheduled for April 30. Warm up at Busch Gardens will be at 8:30, so need to depart the school at 4:30am(!).

Finally, there may need to be a time adjustment for the 8th grade band concert on May 24th to avoid conflict with the Apex High School concert. Several ideas were suggested, with no official change yet.

The 6th and 7th grade bands will perform on May 23, so set up will need to take place on May 22. Volunteers will be needed for set up and take down also.

Don't forget Sweet Spoons after the concerts!

This is the final meeting for the 2015-2016 school year! It has been a fun and successful year for our AMS band students. Have a great summer!
