Band Directors Report
*Kids are doing awesome a good start to a new school year!
*Students/parents need to get the student contracts done online if they have already done so.
*Band info for pep/jazz band going out 9/9
*Monday October 6th Smart Music Meeting at 7pm in the auditorium to help parents/students with the program
*all 8th graders are pre-enrolled and may use the computers at the school before and after school.
*$45/$46 dollars to subscribe for use at home and extra$18 for a microphone
*any questions go online at smartmusic.com, they have a wonderful support/customer service department and can answer alot of your questions.
*Julie said everything is looking good handed out accounts up to date.
Balance of $3,812.00 as of 9/30/14
*Lisa asked board members to proof August meeting minutes, edited and posted to website.
*Christy Shellabarger says that Mailchimp is locked down for now and is going to re-enter information as soon as its up.
*She will continue to post to Facebook and the AMSBooster website while its down with any information, and post the upcoming
calendar on the website.
*Deicy reported that she is still collecting forms and $ for the order on the 3rd of October(which is the deadline)
*So far she has $439 in orders.
*She asked Christy to put spiritwear order form on website.
*Inventory count: Not many sweatshirts and more T-shirts available in large sizes
*Not to forget Smart Music meeting on Monday,October 6th in the auditorium.
*in February "To March or Not to March" question and answer, letting the 8th graders and thier parents know what high schoolMarching Band is all about.
*Possibly having some of the high schoolers come, maybe get thier section leaders etc,
*Basically and info night to let us help you help your child.
*Middle School Night at Apex High School is October 17th,2014 8th graders will play the National Anthem and march out onto the field with the AHSMB,
great opportunity to get the feel of what happens at a football game(ps. Its a blast!!)
*Mrs. Bishop will get the information for other high schools in the area and get that to students and parents soon.
*Last year, the kids raised over $7000!!
*Very productive and successful but very stressful, if some of the areas can be split up and divided it will be alot easier
*Dawne will be revising the envelopes/signup sheets for sponsers
*Another meeting for Bandathon soon.
*A run down, kids get sponsers
* there are raffle prizes(which we will need donations, ie: gift cards etc) and someone to keep track of them
*will be using 3 school locations for this BandRoom(for snack before event), Cafeteria (pizza party) and the gym
*6,7,8 grades will play seperately them all together
*Tear down and gym becomes an "arcade" for games and raffles and such.
*Performance takes place 3:30-5:30
*students have to collect $40 or more in pledges to stay for the pizza party and games, they may have a choice to stay and attend or go home after performance.
*Sarah Giuliano has agreed to chair this event(yay!)she needs a co-chair
*Different Jobs to include the following: **Band Room Snack
**Set up the gym
**Tear down the gym
**Collecting the sponser sheets and donations
**Sign up genius will be set up for volunteers in each of these areas with times/shifts available
**Keeping track of donations to raffle off (donations between $5-$15 dollars)
**Will need parents to help set up the day of the event, Mrs. Bishop will ask AD about the setup of the gym.
**Cafeteria will need setting up
** Parents chaperoning during dismissal times to make sure kids are getting thier rides etc.
** Parents to supervise during the non-performing grades while they are sitting and listening etc.
** Tearing down the gym, instruments, chairs etc back to band room etc.
*Again, another meeting specifically regarding the BAND-A-THON soon before Octobers meeting.
*Emails will be arriving soon for the event.
