AMS Band Boosters General Meeting, October 5, 2015

Attendance: Helen Bishop, Sarah Giuliano, Jennifer Arborgast, Julie Seith, Susie Fee, Kirsten Bailey, Jill Feldman

 Mrs. Bishop's Report:

Online band contracts were a success. Still missing only a few.

8th grade night has been postponed until October 31 for Apex High.
Jazz Band auditions are being held October 5-7.

All-County Band Auditions take place October 20. Parents of those auditioning may volunteer during their child's turn.
The 8th Graders performed on Constitution Day for the school, and will perform November 10 at 7:30am for Veteran's Day Observance.
8th grade field trip forms went home. Disney World is being considered for two days with the 8th grade chorus.
The 7th grade elementary field trip will be in December, with possibly one class going to Apex Elementary and the other going to Baucom. Mrs. Bishop is looking for new ideas for the second field trip for the 7th graders. Last year they went bowling. This year - Defy Gravity? Ziplining? Paintball?
8th grade fundraisers: There will be two. Pie sales with Mr. Sweet's chorus, and cookie dough sales for band members only.

Treasurer's Report:
Our fiscal year beginning balance is $3,767, with a projected balance of $4,809. Recent activity included spiritwear sales exceeding the budget at 129%, and expenses going toward jazz books, Smart music, and repairs.

Communications:
Christy was not able to attend tonight. She will updating the calendar through the end of the year.

Spiritwear Update:
All 7th and 8th graders have sweatshirts or have one on order for the parade, and there should be 7 extra. The next step is distribution to students when they arrive. Ideas included bagging them individually with each student's name or placing them in their cubbies.

Shutterfly is up and running for photos. Link will be put on the website for parent to upload photos.

New Business:
Band-A-Thon is October 30. Paperwork was reviewed, and new ideas for games were discussed. Mrs. Bishop would like to decorate a "flaming" hoop for tossing a baritone this year, instead of flinging a flute. Collected funds this year may need to go to audio/visual upgrades in the band room, and a new camera. Band-A-Thon communication may include the need for a tech upgrade. Help is needed for gathering prizes. Forms go out this Friday, Oct. 9th.
Parent volunteers are needed for Sunday night setups before concerts this year - Dec. 13th. Going out for ice cream after as a group was also discussed (Sweet Spoons, Rita's, Menchies...). Sign ups will go out.
Mrs. Bishop needs volunteers for a clean-up day, preferably before Band-A-Thon, possibly October 26.
Amazon Prime is now set up for additional funds.

Next meeting is November 2, 2015 in the band room.
